New to Padel?
A quick guide to the sport and how to get started in Dubai.
What is Padel?
Padel is a racket sport that blends tennis and squash. It's played in doubles on an enclosed court about a third of the size of a tennis court, with walls that are part of the game. The ball can bounce off the glass or mesh, so rallies are longer and more tactical. It's easy to pick up, social, and one of the fastest-growing sports in the world.
Dubai has become a padel hotspot with dozens of clubs and courts. Whether you're trying it for the first time or want to join competitive league play, you're in the right place.

The Court
A padel court has back and side walls you can use. The net divides the court in half.
- Walls — The ball can bounce off the back and side walls; use them to keep the ball in play.
- Net — Same idea as tennis: get the ball over the net into the opposite side.
- Service boxes — Serve underarm into the diagonal service box.
How Scoring Works
Padel uses the same scoring system as tennis. If you've played tennis, you already know it.
Points: 0 (love), 15, 30, 40. First to win the game by 2 clear points.
Set: First to 6 games (with a 2-game lead). Tie-break at 6-6.
Match: Best of 2 sets. A tie-break decides the third if needed.

Equipment
You need a padel racket (solid face with holes, no strings) and padel balls. Balls look like tennis balls but are slightly softer and have less pressure. Most Dubai clubs rent rackets and provide balls, so you can try before you buy.
Comfortable sportswear and court shoes are enough. Many players wear the same as for tennis or squash.
